ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC is set to modernize the landscape of regulation for complementary healthcare professionals.
Helping to ensure safer and ethical healthcare practices for everyone living in British Columbia, CCHPBC’s primary mandate and oversights include the following:
- Regulation: The College regulates the practice of health and care professionals to ensure that they meet standards of competence and ethical conduct. This regulation helps protect the public by ensuring that only qualified individuals practice in these fields.
- Registration & Licencing: The College grants licences to individuals who meet the necessary qualifications and standards to practice in their respective professions. This process involves assessing the applicants’ education, training, and credentials.
- Quality Assurance: The College develops and enforces standards of practice to ensure that professionals maintain competency throughout their careers. This may involve continuing education/professional development requirements and adherence to ethical guidelines.
- Complaints Resolution & Disciplinary Actions: The College investigates complaints or concerns raised against its registrants regarding their professional conduct or competence. It takes appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary to protect the public interest.
- Public Education & Access: The College educates the public about the roles and responsibilities of health and care professionals, as well as their rights as consumers of healthcare services. This transparency helps build trust and confidence in the regulated professions and gives the public access to search the registered professional database to validate credentials and qualifications.
